..पासपोर्ट बनाउन लाग्ने शुल्क घट्ने
Kathmandu, 12th April- The International Relation and Labour Committee of the Parliament has suggested the concerned authorities to increase the pages of passport for businessmen and decreasing the passport fee for ordinary Nepali citizens going abroad for employment.
The Committee suggested for increasing size of the passport from current 32 pages and simplifying the process of taking passport and fee charged for the same at the Committee meeting held today.
The meeting has concluded that the process for taking passport and policy of taking high fee for the passport from the poor has seemed to be faulty. The Committee members criticized that the state has shown impractical monopoly in passport distribution service by claiming that the logo and cover in the front of the passport was of low quality though the remittance contributed around 25 per cent of the gross domestic product.
On the occasion, the Committee members drew the government’s attention regarding the loss and other abuse of passports in the past. They suggested to make the Foreign Employment Companies more systematic claiming that the difficulties that have faced by youths in foreign lands was reported frequently.
Similarly, the Committee suggested for giving priority on purchasing and constructing the new buildings for the Embassies in different countries as per the need for it was connected to the national dignity.
Responding to queries of the Committee members, Minister for Foreign Affairs Mahendra Bahadur Pandey said most of the cases of passport abuse are reported in the course of foreign employment and that this was heard as many youths’ went for foreign job by hiding their original passports and acquiring new passports after many countries rejected visas due to various reasons.
Minister Pandey expressed commitment to pay special attention to print quality passport in the days ahead. He also said the purchase of land and building construction for Nepalese embassies in different countries will be carried out by transforming the budget that is not spent under various titles.
